What to knit while on vacation?

Pre-S: If you are a designer looking to learn how to grade your patterns faster and more accurately, Grade your patterns (knit and crochet) using MS Excel is available for immediate access. By the end of the week, you'll be sizing your patterns faster and more accurately than simple paper and calculator. So, summer is here. The sun is shining and the humidity is high. The kids are out of school (yay?!) and it’s time to hit the road for your summer fun-filled vacation. If you are like me, your knitting and crocheting doesn’t take a break when the weather turns hot (or hotter).

As we prepare to go to away to spend some quiet family time at a cabin in the mountains of New Hampshire I am busy planning which projects I will bring. Of course, these need to be small projects I can put down and pick up, often, as well as work on while in a group having a conversation.

There are considerations for projects to work on in the car, project for sitting by the lake, projects to take on hikes, and on and on.

Do you see my dilemma? Based on my calculation on all the projects I will need, the back of the SUV will be stocked with just my yarn rather than stuff we’ll need to survive a week.

The truth is, I know I won’t work on half those projects, but it’s such a comfort to have my yarn when I’m away from home.

That’s one of the reasons I created Vacation Knits - Vol 2: Summer Out and About. With this collection, I scratch all those vacation itches. These are fun shawl pattern that are easy for travel, hanging out in a group, or just being alone on a beach.
