Summer adventures in crochet _ motifs

Did I ever tell you my Adventure Cowl made the cover of I Like Crochet August 2016. When I received my copy of the magazine issue, I was so shocked to see my design on the cover.

The Adventure Cowl is an airy accessory made up of 2 different crochet motifs in Knit Picks Hawthorne fingering in color #26682 Beaumont. Using 2 different motifs instead of only one throughout is sure to keep your interest, from start to finishing.

What is better to work on during the dog days of summer than small motifs you can carry around that wont make you overly warm. Even better, you can make each motif separately and seam, or you an use the join-as-you-go method. AND... the bright variegated color used is perfect for the summer season. Dress up your summer outfits as you head out to that hot BBQ.

Want this pattern? Now is the perfect time.

Now, I need your help. I want to make another Adventure Cowl still using Hawthorne fingering but there are so many great color options and I can't decide. Help me pick the next color. I am thinking Sellwood or Fremont. Which color would you choose? One of these or another? Leave a comment below and let me know which color you choose.

Introducing Freshly Picked

I am so ready for 4th of July.

We are just back from our family vacation to New Hampshire where we stayed in a cabin on the lake. There were lots of relaxing, kayaking, fishing (or rather sitting on the dock with a fishing pole in the water with the fishes swimming by grinning at our obvious lack of skills), eating, and knitting (and crocheting). Getting back into the swing of things, I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation. Do you ever feel like this after a vacation? Re-entry into real life from time off is exhausting...

While away, in addition to knitting while sitting on lawn chair overlooking the water (see photo below of view from cabin in NH), I finished up a new crochet hat and fingerless mitt set - Freshly Picked. I am so excited about this design because if is what summer is all about - relaxing and enjoying the sun.

This set was inspired by recent trips (and there have been many!) to a local farm to pick strawberries (see photo below from one very productive trip to pick our own strawberries) in collaboration with Yarn Indulgences for Yarn Crush July 2017 box.

Make and wear this stylish hat and fingerless mitt set, fast, no matter the weather. With a wide ribbed brim and lacy body, the hat is the perfect piece for warm weather.

Freshly Picked set is sure to be a staple in your summer wardrobe, and uses just one skein of lush fingering weight yarn!

Here are details on the pattern set:
