Introducing: Endless Night Shawl KAL

Hey there,

I hope all is well in your knitting and crocheting universe. I have some VERY special news to share with you today, so get yourself ready...

With all the great things happening, I am thrilled to announce the Endless Night Shawl KAL (knit-a-long) will be starting in just TWO WEEKS on Feb 1st.

As you probably know, I released the Endless Night Shawl pattern last week in collaboration with Yarn Crush February 2019 knit subscription box. The pattern was so widely received (thank you so much for your support) and from your requests, have decided to run a KAL for the pattern during the month of February.

I've created a group on Ravelry for us to chat and share our progress with the pattern. I'm still smoothing out the details and working to get some prizes, I mean, yeah! Stay tuned. I'll be posting information as I have them in the Ravelry group.

So, are you in?

Will you be joining use as we cast-on on Feb 1st?

If so, head over to the Ravelry group. I have a couple posts up. Join in on the conversation. I'd love to see you there!

Talk to you soon.

- Tian

Tech Editor Tip: Size Matters

Today’s #TechEditorTips will be quick because I think it’s pretty self-explanatory, even if not always followed.

Size matters: when writing your pattern, you want your #knitter and #crocheters to be clear what the final project will look like, particularly with sizing.

Since most of us are buying our #patterns online, #designers need to give the buyer as much information as possible, especially the finished size.

Listing your pattern as One Size, doesn’t tell us anything.

Add the actual finished dimension so we’ll know what to expect.

Now a question for you.
Does not having the finished measurement listed in the pattern ever turn you off from buying a pattern?
⚠️Share your thoughts in the comments and get a conversation going.

A sneak peek of two new knitting patterns coming

I didn't forget about you knitters. I've been talking about crochet a lot lately because as a bi-crafty person, my focus wanes.

Sometimes I way into crochet. Did you check out my patterns in Knit Picks' new collection, Embrace Crochet? My Simple Cowl Neck Shawl made the cover (insert happy dance here). Please head over to the Ravelry page and add it to your favorites and queue.

...And sometimes, knitting has my heart and mind, like right now.

For the last few months, I have been secretly working on 2 designs that I've been dying to share with you, you don't even know. Most times I do commission designs and I'm okay with waiting for the release day to be able to share, but these 2 were both... I can't even.

Here is a sneak peek of the Stormbreaker Cowl & Endless Night Shawl featured in Yarn Crush January 2019 subscription box

Embrace Crochet: Simple Cowl Neck Shawl

Last week, Knit Picks released a new crochet collection, Embrace Crochet, featuring 7 amazing patterns. I have 3 patterns in the collection and one of them is my Simple Cowl Neck Shawl.

The Simple Cowl Neck Shawl is a variation on my Esslyn Cowl (available for individual purchase on Ravelry).

ABOUT THE Simple Cowl Neck Shawl:

Delicate lace textures dotted with baubles bring a soft, feminine touch to a practical garment. The simple yet interesting stitch and delicious, durable yarn make for a comfortable and stylish everyday item.

Simple Cowl Neck Shawl is worked flat from the top down as a triangular shawl then joined to work in turned rounds. The simple texture is created by working in the front loop and back loop of stitches.

Measurements: 25" circumference at neck x 21.5" deep at center
Yarn: Knit Picks Galileo in colorway Luna, 5 balls.
Hook: US G/6 (4mm)
