Christmas is officially over <insert a massive sigh here>.
How was your Christmas? I hope it was good and that you got lots of yarn.
Maybe it's because I am getting older and the kid is a teenager now, but Christmas doesn't hold the same charm and magic it use it. These days it's more about running around, getting and crossing items off a massive, never ending list! Now that that crazy time is over, I am looking a head to the New Year and what's on my needles and hook.
For this New Year I want to do something different. Since we don't go out got New Years eve, I will be casting on a project to start off the year right. I might do a shawl or a sock. What would you cast-on?
With the cast on in mind, I will be going through my stash to find all my languishing WIPs and over the next three months will either be Finishing them or Frogging them. Seriously, there should not be all these projects just hanging around for months and years, holding up valuable needle and project bag real estate that I know I don't want anymore and will never finish. So why have that stress hanging over my head for another year. Tough decisions will be made. Sure, at one point I really wanted that FO, but times have changed and so has my taste. I can't keep hanging on to what might have been. Life is too short, right?!! Hence, 2018 is the year of strict WIP management.
Of course, you know me, there have to be some sort of rules and guidelines. Nothing serious, just bumper along the lane to keep me on target. Basic Rule #1: Identify all WIPS (this part is scary because I know I will unearth some stellar WIPS. Loose Rule #2: Decide if I want to Finish it or Frog it. No judgement, just fast gut reaction - Do I want this? Do I want to continue to knit/crochet this? Guideline #3: This all have to be done by March 31st. No excuses! Clean off those needles so you can start something new.
That's not too much to ask, right? I am sure some emotions will come up as I go through and find projects long forgotten (there will be lots of wine involved), but I know I massive yarnie weight will be lifted off my shoulders. Hence, I want to invite you to join me on these little adventures.
Come cast-on with me on New Year's Eve and use #KnitDesignsNYECastOn to tag your projects on social media.
Also, I would love for you to join me with my finish or frog it first quarter challenge. Use the hashtag #KnitDesignsFinishFrogQ1 across social media to share your progress. Let's chat and support each other, because this will not be easy.
Happy Holidays
